My Dream Nursery

Meet my New Nursery!

This is not the usual type of blog post that I have done in the past, but for sure it is the most exciting project that I have worked on to-date, and I’m so excited that I can finally share it with you guys! I must be one of the most luckiest expecting mums on the planet to have been able to work with Pottery Barn Kids Australia, in the creation of my dream nursery!

As you guys know my second baby is due in April and I can’t wait to welcome him to his own room. The room for the nursery is the smallest in our house (3.2 x 2.5 metres). On the plus side, it is bigger than the pantry and does have a lovely view of the pool! We previously used the room as our home-office, but now the time has come to convert it into a nursery for Baby #2.
The idea was that I wanted to create a neutral nursery, with dominant white and wood tones. We did a little bit of decorating with white paint on the walls and coving, new white skirting boards and new lighting fixture. Originally this room had a white Venetian-style blind, but to make the window appear softer and to help cool the effects of the afternoon sun, we added a simple white linen curtain and rail to the front.

Moving onto the next exciting part, choosing the furniture. For the cot I chose the Sloan Acrylic Convertible Cot. I love it’s simplicity and the acrylic slat detail is just fantastic, and later on the whole thing converts into baby’s first cozy toddler bed. For the chest-of-drawers, I love the design of the Blythe Extra-Wide with Change Table Topper in French White.  I also added the matching Blythe Bookcase also in French White for extra storage. To bring maximise the cozy feel of the room, I chose the Addison Rug in small size, which had the great effect of softening an otherwise hard looking wood floor.

Pottery Barn Kids were also very kind to give me some extra bits to finish-off the room, which if you are interested are listed below:
  1. Fawn Nursery Rocker – We actually have the horse rocker also from Pottery Barn Kids for Zaia and she love it so much, I’m sure baby #2 will love it too and I can’t wait the to see they ride the rocker together.
  2. Lamp Shaped Wicker Storage – I use this to keep an extra blanket and muslins
  3. Silver Rope Changing Table Table Caddy and Medium Changing Table Storage. I can say this caddy is the best little storage. We own Sabrina Nappy Caddy for Zaia and it’s so handy to have all the nappy stuff in one little basket that we can carry around the house or you can use it for mummy pack fill with water, snacks and books to entertain you while you breastfeeding.
  4. Harper Lamb Mobile
  5. Collector’s Mini Book Rack Shelves – I use this for books and keep little soft toys.
  6. Lamb Plus Toys Jumbo, Small Bear Plush, Fox Woodland Baby Stacker, Small Animal Plus Stacker, West Elm pbk Bear PlusElephant Bank, Owl Bank, Elephant Snow Globe.
  7. Baby Animal Decorative Cushion, Sweet Baby Animal Bumper and Quilt.
Hopefully you guys like my new nursery and it can give you a little inspiration on how to dress your own small room. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions for me.
